Summer has arrived!

Summer officially arrived on June 21, 2004 and your driving style may need a change. Did you realize that hot weather is not good for your car? Your car has to work harder in warmer weather. When the temperature rises outside, your engine is going to run hotter. Keep in mind, while you are waiting to pick up the kids from their summer activities or even waiting in line at the fast-food restaurant with your air conditioner running, you are taking a chance on something bad happening to your car. A water hose that is weak could be just waiting to break. If the line is long, turn off the A/C and roll down your windows.

The road heats up during the warm weather and may affect your tires. Make sure that your tires are properly inflated. A low tire can blow under extreme temperatures.

Parking in the shade during the summer will help keep your car cooler and will also help your windshield wipers and even your paint job last longer.

It is important to remember that even if you have air conditioning and are cruising along at a comfortable temperature, the guy next to you may not, and he may be feeling the fatigue of the warmer weather. Drivers tend to be easily distracted in hot weather.

During this time of the year, it is very important that you have your vehicles cooling system checked out. That includes your hoses, fan belt, antifreeze and coolant, not just your air conditioner. Make sure your oil level is where it should be and check the air pressure in your tires. Tires should be checked out in the cooler part of the day not after you have driven the vehicle all day.

Following these few tips may ensure that your vehicle will provide you with the service that you are accustom to.
